INSPIRATIONS WRITERS GROUP members had a great celebration meeting at Pierremont Hall, Broadstairs this Saturday after receiving the news that our GREEN ANTHOLOGY is the:
2021 NATIONAL WINNER of the Denise Robertson Anthology award for best group anthology, orgnaised by the National Association of Writing Groups NAWG) An awesome achievement especially at a national level.
The meeting format was a change from the usual working session. After the inital welcomes and confirmation of the award. Members were presented the group's award Certificate and engraved silver platter. Members organised photos, then enjoyed the celebratory chocolate cake and prosecco.
We were joined by two new interested people and Jill smith, head of Isle writers, another Thanet based writing group who are celebrating their 20 year anniversary.

We launched our 5th Anthology BLUE on Saturday 29th May at the Boating Pool Café, Ramsgate.
Despite Covid, Inspirations Writers Group members have forged ahead, meeting via zoom throughout 2020. As a consequence, they have worked hard writing, re-writing, and editing to continue their anthology series Rainbow. Blue, is the fifth book in the series and like its predecessors before it, insists that every piece, regardless of format or genre contains the word blue, or an image stereotypically blue within its pages. |

INSPIRATIONS WRITERS GROUP were very pleased to hold their latest Anthology launch GREEN at Old Kent Market, Margate on Saturday 15th February.
The event was well attended with a number of sales both from group members and the public. We very much appreciated being able to have their fruit and veg style stall which fitted well with our Anthology colours and displayed the books well, as you can see from the photos. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank various people:

INSPIRATIONS WRITERS GROUP AT: WESTWORDS 2019 SUNDAY 14TH JULY 10 - 4PM WESTWOOD CROSS. The first ever Authors Signing Event on your doorstep. Beginning this year, WESTWORDS 2019 existed for one day only, bringing together Kent authors of prose and poetry to meet, ask questions, read work and purchase signed copies directly. Generally these type of events, the highlight of any paid Conference, are held within the confines of the themed event. |

YELLOW ANTHOLOGY PUBLISHED DECEMBER 2018
PRESS RELEASE* *PRESS RELEASE* *PRESS RELEASE* *PRESS RELEASE* "Inspirations Writers Group (IWG) have recently released their third anthology Yellow. This writing group is going from strength to strength with three publications under their belt in the space of two years. Like their previous works, each story or poem in the anthology is an original work and has been written by members of this successful Thanet-based group. The key to each book and the concept that unites the pieces within it, is that every work has to include a specific colour. This time the colour is yellow. In earlier publications the colours were Red and Orange. If you’ve spotted the developing theme, you can probably guess that Green is their next planned publication. |

RED ANTHOLOGY LAUNCHED JANUARY 2017

The Red Anthology was our first publication. Officially launched in January 2017, it saw the coming of age of a writing group that had existed for seven years. Realistically, not everyone who writes will have their work published. Some will publish independently, some will self-publish and those golden few will achieve acclaim with agents and traditional publishers, but for the vast majority of people who write they may never see their work in hard copy print.
The Red Anthology changed all that for members of Inspirations Writers Group. IWG's first publication took two years in the making from the initial dream in 2015 to fruition in 2017. It was a vertical learning curve for some and involved a lot of time, effort and patience on everyone's part. Sixteen writers submitted work into twenty-two pieces producing a slim, yet attractive volume covering stories from memories to fantasy. The theme Red, was introduced by the Chair, at the first brain-storming session because the members work covers so many genres. What theme could possibly meet all of their needs. A colour and more, the beginning of a rainbow starting with Red. We'd launched Red and sold a large number of copies. KENT CEATIVE AWARDS FINALISTS 2017Following on from this success we applied to the Kent Creative Awards and were surprised to find ourselves finalists at this year's (2017) awards ceremony. We were satisfied with being runners-up, but the taste of success had whetted our appetite for more. With funds from sales, we formalised the group, joining the National Association of Writing Groups and drawing up membership criteria and committee structures, along with a robust constitution.
THE ORANGE ANTHOLOGY LAUNCHED NOVEMBER 2017
Caught by the publishing bug we commenced on our next publication - Orange. This time the critiquing stages were formalised into two layers with members who needed to gain experience and confidence, or being new to the group in the first layer and experienced critiquers making up the second layer. It worked better this time around though still caused a headache or two in the proof editing and formatting stages. This time twenty-two writers felt confident enough to produce a piece, or four, for the anthology. Each again, in a variety of genres with the colour Orange being present in every one.
Orange was launched on 25th November 2017, Orange Anthology, echoes the theme of our first work Red, in that each piece has the colour Orange somewhere within its lines. It promises; “a bucks fizz of excitement …with thirty-two slices of juicy poetry and prose to choose from. You may find the Navel (gazing) memoir, the murderous blood-orange, the bitter tang of a Seville, or the small, sweet easy-going mandarin. Whatever citrus species appeals, there’s something for everyone in this second cornucopia from the Inspirations orchard.” Over ninety copies were sold at the launch with more on order, a fitting start to the Rainbow sequel.
